Promethean Biofuels Opens in Temecula as a Community Co-operative
The North County Times reports that a local biodiesel refinery in Temecula called Promethean Biofuels has opened its doors as a community co-operative for the purchase of biodiesel. Members can purchase annual shares for $50 a year, enabling them to purchase biodiesel at a significant value directly from the refinery. Promethean fuels utilizes cooking grease and oil that is donated to the facility by restaurants and others in order to produce biodiesel. The company was founded with $500,000 raised from investors, then opted to purse the co-operative based model of operation due to a lack of availability of funding.
