Calverton, NY Gas Station Begins Offering E85

Written on March 16, 2010

The Riverhead News-Review reports that a Calverton, New York Getty station has begun offering E85 fuel, a blend of 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. The store began stocking the E85 fuel in the fall of 2009 on two of its pumps and the store owner reports that sales of the E85 fuel have begun to rapidly increase, selling 4,500 gallons in one month. The store owner says that he was approached by the EPA about selling the fuel, and is now benefiting from an eight cents a gallon tax incentive on the sale of E85 fuel, which is now priced for consumers at $2.33 a gallon in the state of New York.
