EIA sees growth in ethanol demand in 2010

Written on January 26, 2010

Des Moines Register reports that ethanol demand and the industry as a whole may have a smoother ride this year, so says the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA). The EIA says that the decline in gasoline consumption in 2009 and 2008 will likely be reversed this year as the economy improves, boosting demand for biofuels. The rising requirements of the Renewable Fuel Standards will assist, too. California, the nation’s largest fuel consumer, will help by raising its mandatory biofuel blend from 5.7% to 10% this year.
