Senate tables biodiesel tax credit
Convenience Store News reports that the U.S. Senate has decided to table consideration of an extension for the biodiesel blender tax credit until early 2010, as it faces other priorities including the health care debate. The move has sparked concerns by biodiesel makers over their future. Proponents of the credit argue the delay would force producers to cease operations and lay off workers, as consumer demand would plunge without the credit. Senators Max Baucus and Charles Grassley said they will take up the legislation when Congress reconvenes.
