DuPont joint venture to open Tennessee plant

Delaware Online reports that a DuPont Co. joint venture to market an ethanol technology is set to launch a demonstration plant by the end of the year. DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol is partnering with a University of Tennessee spin-off firm on an eastern Tennessee facility, which will initially produce ethanol from corncobs. The cellulosic ethanol joint venture is one of three biofuels partnerships DuPont is involved in, including a joint venture based at the company’s Experimental Station in Alapocas. DuPont’s biofuels initiative is a centerpiece of the company’s push into biotechnology.
