Rocket fueled by vegetable oil

Written on November 30, 2009

iStockAnalyst reports that last summer, a vegetable oil-powered rocket was launched off the surface of the Mojave Desert. The vegetable oil/jet fuel was invented at University of North Dakota’s Energy and Environmental Research Center (EERC). It was the first time jet fuel had been made from 100% renewable resources. The EERC created the jet fuel using off-the-shelf technology in new ways with funding from the U.S. Air Force.
