Piedmont Biofuels get grant for energy research
News & Observer reports that Piedmont Biofuels Industrial will receive a grant for clean energy research and development, U.S. Senator Kay Hagan said. Piedmont will use the money to develop biodiesel production processes that reduce water usage and waste byproduct, as well as use lower-grade feedstocks, such as poultry renderings. Its facility in Pittsboro, North Carolina produces approximately 4,000 gallons of biodiesel a day using waste poultry fat or used cooking oil.
