Water-ethanol mix found in convenience mart tank

Written on April 7, 2009

DailyAdvance.com reports that a convenience mart in Elizabeth City, North Carolina was barred from selling gasoline for several days after a state inspector found a water-ethanol mixture at the bottom of a ground storage tank. The problem was caused by water being introduced into the ethanol-gasoline mixture in the convenience mart’s fuel. The water separated the ethanol from the gasoline. The mixture then sank to the bottom of the ground storage tank.
