Philippine Governor Pushes Jatropha Planting and Ethanol Processing
The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) reports that, despite the declining petroleum prices in the world market, the province of Zamboanga del Norte is still resolved to push for biofuels production. The province’s governor is strongly pushing for the planting of Jatropha, commonly known to many as “tuba-tuba”, as feedstock for ethanol production. He also proposes a plant in the same municipality as the jatropha trees, an economically and environmentally solid move considering he has already received interest from buyers as well as assurance of capital to fund the project.
