Illinois’ Center Ethanol Co. LLC Honored as One of Area’s “Best Developments”
Illinois media bnd.com reports that several facilities, including the area’s first ethanol production plant, were recognized Monday as the best developments in the metro-east. Center Ethanol Co. LLC opened its ethanol production plant just outside of Sauget earlier this year. An estimated 57 million gallons of ethanol are anticipated to be produced in the plant each year. The $110 million investment created 40 jobs at the plant. The Southwestern Illinois Development Authority (SWIDA), founded in 1988 as the metro-east’s economic development organization, has helped develop 64 projects through bond issues ranging from $800,000 to $94 million and created 2,400 jobs, including the development of Center Ethanol Co. LLC.
